Dr. Katia Reinert serves as Health Ministries associate director for the General Conference of theSeventh-day Adventist World Headquarters. She is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner,Public Health Clinical Nurse Specialist, and Lifestyle Medicine professional practicinginternalmedicine at Shepherds clinic in Baltimore, Maryland, as a volunteer.
Dr. Reinert holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Washington Adventist University, a Masterof Science in Nursing from Catholic University of America with focus in public health and thetreatment of vulnerable populations,anda Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nursing from JohnsHopkins University in Baltimore, MD, focusing on interdisciplinary research on violence in thefamily. She received apost-doctoralcertificate fromAndrews University Seventh-day AdventistTheological Seminaryfocusing on health and cross-cultural mission, and serves as anadjunctprofessor in their Doctoral of Ministry program.
She takes joy as a health educator coordinating and holding courses focused on diseaseprevention and health promotion for health professionals, pastors, and health enthusiasts aroundthe world. In her role at the Health Ministries department she is involved in improving the health ofpopulations globally through addiction recovery, health behavior change, and violence preventionprograms as coordinator for Adventist Recovery Ministries Global and Youth Alive. Dr. Reinert hasbeen the host and content producer for Speak Up, a show produced by Hope Channel thatfocuses on mental/emotional health. She is a published author of research articles, books,periodicals, and a frequent reviewer for peer reviewed journals.
Dr. Reinert has a heart for ministry, and a passion for mission and global health. She takes joy inhelping individuals and families across cultures cope with trauma, depression and anxiety. Sheenjoys traveling and exploring the opportunities for service around the world through medicalmissionary work and envisions churches as a center for hope and healing. Her dream is for allGod’s children to reach their full potential, experiencing restoration and an abundant life throughGod’s love and grace. Originally from Brazil, she enjoys bicycling, hiking, running, and exploringnature.
