This year for EnditNow® Emphasis Day focuses on “Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing, When Those Who Claim to Be Followers of Jesus Harm Others.” People usually think that abuse involves explicit acts of violence, but in the case of abuse from faith leaders, that is not always the case. Survivors often do not recognize the behaviors as abusive, and thus they usually do not resist the acts of abuse. Yet, the power differential caused each victim to be violated.
